The Garfield Historic neighborhood in Downtown Phoenix is becoming increasingly popular and attractive to entry level homebuyers as well as to investors.   Due to it’s proximity to ASU Downtown, the Roosevelt Row Arts District, the Light Rail, Chase Field, US Airways Center, CityScape and numerous locally owned restaurants, bars and not to forget about the numerous Downtown Phoenix employers, the Garfield neighborhood has a lot to offer.

It’s hard to imagine but in the late 1800’s, the Garfield neighborhood was basically farmland, outside the town limits of Phoenix.  In the 1890’s, a few noteworthy individuals built substantial homes in the neighborhood, then the bulk of the development with smaller bungalows took place in the early 1900’s to the 1930’s.

Modern day Garfield, including the section between Roosevelt and the I-10 Freeway sometines referred to as North Garfield, is generally bounded by Van Buren on the south, the I-10 Freeway on the north, 7th St on the west and 16th St on the east.
